Bruins Riding Hot Streak
The Boston Bruins just capped off their eighth victory in a row with a 2-0 defeat of the Hurricanes. This is the longest winning streak the Bruins have had since March 2014, when they won twelve straight. Over the course of this win streak they’ve had guys coming in and out of the lineup and luckily enough all of them have found ways to produce or contribute. With Bergeron sidelined for a little longer the Bruins will continue to rely on their depth which is being tested early and often this season.
During their streak the Bruins have been without the services of for five of their wins. Bergeron’s absence hasn’t impacted the Bruins too much as Krejci and Coyle have elevated their games. Krejci has been lined up with Pastrnak and Marchand until last night when they rearranged the lines but Krejci has put up 6 points over this stretch and is really finding his offensive game. On the other hand Coyle has been excellent at hemming teams in their zone and creating offense. He’s been able to produce 5 points. Going forward the Bruins are looking to use these lines with Bergeron still out.
#NHLBruins practice lines:
Marchand – Coyle – Heinen
DeBrusk – Krejci – Pastrnak
Bjork – Kuraly – Wagner
Nordstrom – Lindholm – Backes/RitchieChara – McAvoy
Krug – Carlo
Moore – Grzelcyk
Kampfer – CliftonRask

The Bruins are hoping to build chemistry on other lines while Bergeron is out. Putting Marchand and Coyle together can strengthen their bond in case the Bruins decide to put Coyle on Bergeron’s wing when he returns. Personally I would love that although Coyle is a stronger center playing on the top line has proven well for him. The Bruins other option would be to leave Heinen on the top line and put Coyle back down to the third, also an understandable choice since Heinen has been creative with the puck since he has received more opportunities. Both options create a better third line and gives Bjork someone else with offensive talent as Wagner and Kuraly are by no means offensive studs.
On the blueline John Moore is very close to returning and the Bruins are hoping to have him play tomorrow night against the Blackhawks. Moore’s return creates more depth for the Bruins and certainly won’t hurt the team, although he was beat out last season by Clifton this is a chance for Moore to make an impact. Over the course of this season the Bruins have been getting offensive production all over their blueline. Obviously Krug and Grzelcyk have paved the way but Chara and Carlo have had strong performances on the score sheet as well. Chara with 5 goals has already matched his total from last season and is only 5 points away from last year’s total. Carlo has found his offensive game and has been able to match his offensive output from last season with 10 points already. McAvoy seems to be overthinking his offensive plays at times but he has the tools to be a dynamo from the back end, eventually he’ll come out of this small slump.
In the young season the Bruins netminders have been brick walls and especially during this streak. Rask and Halak have been shutting down offenses on a nightly basis and their offense has been blowing teams out of the water. They’ve outscored their opponents 31-12. With this tandem the Bruins have a chance to win every night.
Since Nov. 15:
Tuukka Rask: 6-0-0, .943.
Jaro Halak: 2-0-1, .954.Combined 8-0-1 with a .947.

Few teams in the league are lucky to have one goalie putting up great numbers but the Bruins have the best duo in the league right now.
The Bruins are atop the entire NHL with their 20-3-5 record, good for 45 points. They’ve shown no signs of slowing down and they should just keep chugging along. They return to action tomorrow night hosting the Blackhawks at 7:00. The Bruins still haven’t lost at home this season and are riding a 16 game home point streak.
