Today is Free Agent Friday for the NHL and the Bruins have finally made their first move. Defenseman Kevan Miller was signed to a $2 million deal, depending on bonuses, per Pierre LeBrun.

The breakdown of the deal is as follows, according to Puck Pedia:
- $1 million – base salary
- $250,000 – roster bonus day one
- $250,000 – 10 games played
- $125,000 – 20 games played
- $100,000 – 30 games played
- $75,000 – 40 games played
- $200,000 for making the playoffs
Miller has not played since April 2019 due to a stubborn knee injury. He has had four surgeries to correct the problem with no luck until just recently. Miller’s agent tweeted this video in September:

Since the deal is cheap and Miller has a tough, veteran presence, the only big question mark is if he can remain healthy.
Miller’s most impressive season for the Bruins was in 2015-16, with five goals and 18 points in 71 games played. Overall, he’s racked up a measly 67 points in 324 career games in Boston.
The Bruins have other defensemen who are free agents that they must focus on re-signing, including UFA captain Zdeno Chara, UFA Torey Krug, and RFA Matt Grzelcyk.
