A couple years ago the NHL instituted a bye week for all the NHL teams and currently the Bruins, amongst other teams, are on their mandated 7 day break from hockey. Lucky for them they actually get a couple more days because of the All-Star Game this weekend.
- Speaking of the All-Star Game, David Pastrnak is the lone representative from the Bruins and has arrived in San Jose to enjoy the festivities. Pastrnak is in the midst of another great season and has 27 goals and 29 assists on the year. This is Pasta’s first All-Star selection and it is well deserved.
- The bye week is helping the Bruins on the injury front as well as last game Tuukka Rask was slammed into by Rangers forward Filip Chytil. Rask had to leave the game and is dealing with a concussion. Rask will get nine days to recover and hopefully will be a full go after the weekend. His agent came out and said today that Rask is day-to-day.
- Peter Cehlarik was sent down to the Providence Bruins for the bye week so he could continue to elevate his game. He’s been strong in Providence in his three games he has 3 goals and 2 assists. Cehlarik will be recalled to the Bruins once they are off the bye week.
- The Bruins are still pursuing a scoring winger before the NHL’s trade deadline on February 25th. They have been linked to big names such as Wayne Simmonds, Michael Ferland, Brayden Schenn. On the smaller front they’ve checked in on Kevin Hayes and Charlie Coyle.
Those are the biggest stories from the Bruins’ midseason break. They return to action on January 29th against the Winnipeg Jets.
