Ben Wallace to be Inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2021
Anybody remember the Pistons teams from the early to mid-2000’s? Those teams were insanely good! Rip Hamilton, Chauncey Billups, and Tayshaun Prince were vital parts of those teams, particularly the 2004 championship roster. But the Pistons don’t win anything without their big man in the middle…”Big Ben” Wallace. Wallace was an icon in Detroit, especially on the defensive end. It was announced today that the man known as “Big Ben” is getting his call to the hall in 2021.
Ex-Detroit Pistons and HBCU Virginia Union star Ben Wallace will be inducted into the Class of 2021 for the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, a source told @TheUndefeated. The 2004 NBA champion was a four-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year and a four-time All-Star. pic.twitter.com/GDcM1YWMbA

This is an impressive resume for Ben Wallace. The one that stands out to me the most is the Defensive Player of the Year honors. He won that award FOUR times. That’s astonishing to think about! This is coming from the Boston sports fan who was spoiled to see Kevin Garnett defensively night in and night out. Ben Wallace was just that special on the defensive end. The rest of the accolades are impressive in itself as well. 16 NBA seasons and he was the leader in blocks and rebounds (twice) while being a four time All-star, five time All-NBA recipient, and six time All-Defense. Again, a lot of defense for Big Ben here.
Some Highlights
I mean, what more is there to say for the big man here? He’s athletic, tough, and can jump to the sky. That must explain why he had so many blocks in his career. If you have a few spare minutes on a Saturday night, take a look at this highlight reel.
In Conclusion
A well earned call to the hall for “Big Ben” Wallace. His presence on the court made those Pistons teams great. Honestly, they probably could’ve won another title when they were all at their peak. And guess what? Big Ben was the driving force behind that run from those Pistons teams. Did I probably yell at Big Ben for blocking a Celtics player in a regular season game or playoff series? Sure! But today, we celebrate a great NBA career getting recognition at the highest level. Here’s another highlight reel of Big Ben if you want to kill some time on this Saturday night. Enjoy and have a great rest of your weekend everyone!
