Amari Cooper: Worth a First -Rounder
When the Dallas Cowboys traded a first-round pick for wide receiver Amari Cooper, everyone laughed. Why would they give that up, they said. Jerry Jones is an idiot, they said. Now those same people are eating their words.
Last night Amari Cooper helped propel Dallas to an overtime win over the Philadelphia Eagles, hauling in 10 catches for 217 yards and 3 touchdowns. Not bad huh?
Ever since coming over to Dallas in a trade with the Oakland Raiders Cooper, and the Cowboys, have been on fire. Since strapping up with America’s team, Cooper has totaled 40 catches, 642 yards, and 6 touchdowns (in six games) while the Cowboys have gone 5-1.
The Cooper trade has helped put Dallas in the drivers seat of the NFC East. He has single handedly changed the offense of the Cowboys. They actually have a weapon in the passing game, opening up running lanes for both Ezekiel Elliot and Dak Prescott. The defense now has to prepare for both an aerial and ground attack when before they only had to worry about stopping Zeke.
After seeing what Mark Sanchez did yesterday, it is clear the Redskins are toast, the Eagles couldn’t beat Dallas for the second time this season, and the Giants are too far out to make a comeback. It’s almost a foregone conclusion that Dallas comes out on top of this division. So much for Cooper not being worth that first rounder.
