The Rafters Pod Ep. 107: A Brand New Celtics Team
A brand new year and a brand new Celtics team is upon us. That means a brand new year of The Rafters Podcast. Your host Liam McDaid is back at the table with a familiar face, Connor Strayer. The original duo are back in full swing debating all things Celtics and giving their takes on this brand new team.
The 2023-2024 season kicks off with a showdown against the New York Knicks on Wednesday, October 25th. A team Boston was able to defeat mightily in the preseason. The new faces, Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis have wasted no time in showing off their talents among Bostons championship core torturing the Knicks preseason starters with smothering defense and transition ball movement. Holiday joins Bostons incredible defensive back-court as a direct result of Damian Lillard being traded to the Milwaukee Bucks. It’s a two team race in the East and Boston won’t rest on what they’ve had the last few years. Those two will be staples to the Celtics new identity this season after losing long time fan-favorite Robert Williams and the teams defensive anchor and heart in Marcus Smart. Can Holiday maintain the stifling defense with a more efficient offensive output than Smart? Is big man once again a position of need for the Celtics?
Expectations are high with ESPN having the green team being the first seed in the Eastern Conference with a 55-27 record. Connor and Liam examine this number and give their expectations on this brand new team. During an 82 game season, trials and tribulations are a certainty. Will Boston stay healthy enough to meet these lofty expectations set or even exceed them with a 60+ win season? A brand new season is finally upon us. Follow The Rafters Podcast each week for all things Boston Celtics.
