A Bet Is A Bet: Why Liverpool Is A Good Team? Part 1

The title of this article says it all, a bet is a bet, and without giving too much detail, here is the bet I lost…

As my other co-host, Andrew, on the Yellow Card Podcast would say right about now, “you hate to see it”.

You’ll Never Walk Alone!

Liverpool FC thanks fans for Europa League final support - Liverpool FC

The Liverpool fan base is by far one of the most loyal fan-bases in all European soccer and maybe worldwide one would argue. If you are ever watching a Liverpool game on TV, you’ve probably heard them singing a song called: “You’ll Never Walk Alone“.

Liverpool’s fan base adopted this song in the 1960’s after a cover by Gerry and the Pacemakers was released, which was presented then to Reds manager, Bill Shankly during a pre-season trop that same year. According to then player, Tommy Smith, manager Shankly was in “awe” when he heard the song.

Shankly would later then pick the song during an appearance on a show in 1965 ahead of that years’ FA Cup final and the song then became an instant phenomenon amongst Liverpool Fans. The passionate way in which the Liverpool fans sing this song has been such a symbol that other clubs around Europe have adopted it! Oh yes, other clubs around Europe such as Scottish side Celtic and German side Borussia Dortmund.

Speaking of Dortmund, what a coincidence! Because my next topic has a previous relationship there.

Jurgen Klopp – Man, Myth and Legend!

How Jurgen Klopp's first squad meeting at Liverpool has led to historic success in 2019 - NEWSCABAL

Jurgen is such an amazing coach, no matter what team he is in, he manages to rally the fans behind him and it’s a sight to see honestly. Klopp before he came to Liverpool, was Borussia Dortmund’s manager where fans were stunned at the news that he was leaving. Coincidentally, fans sang to him upon his departure “You’ll Never Walk Alone”

Besides the farewell and how Klopp has put brought the fans even that much closer to the team. Klopp has really mustered an amazing threat for the English Premier League when it comes to Liverpool’s overall game.

When you look at Liverpool and their overall weaponry, it all starts at the back of the net. The Brazilian international, Allison Becker has been an absolute wall for Liverpool for quite sometime.

Defensively, Liverpool’s back 4 are some of the most solid ones in years around the EPL. Virgil Van Djik defensive and offensive game can TKO any team when he’s at full strength and healthy.

Midfield wise, Klopp literally delivers the best showing of passing and play-developing than any other team. Georginio Wijnaldum, Thiago and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are creative and fast, something that a lot of English Premier League teams struggle often to contain.

Lastly, that offensive trio! Salah, Firmino and Sane. Somehow, in this years’ premier league, teams around the league have managed to contain them.

Kloppp’s excellent management resulted in a title last year!

In Conclusion…

As you can see, this is just the beginning as to why Liverpool is a great team.

Amongst the top 10 clubs in the Premier League and top 25 across Europe, Liverpool is easily there and not a team to under-estimate EVER! Hey, after all they are still competing for Champions League glory. If you ask me, regardless of their struggles in the EPL, this is pretty damn cool!

Even though I’m a Manchester United fan, talent is something that should never be denied and Liverpool has that going, and always had it around them. Ugh, I really feel like a simp after this, LOL!
