6 Deadline Trades For The Boston Celtics
Celtics: Clint Capela & Alec Burks
Rockets: Robert Covington & Daniel Theis
Timberwolves: D’Angelo Russell & Javonte Green
Warriors: Gorgui Dieng, Romeo Langford, Vincent Poirier, 2021 Unprotected MIN 1st, 2020 MEM 1st, & 2020 MIL 1st
This is the definition of a blockbuster. In this 4 way trade, the Celtics acquire Clint Capela and Alec Burks for Daniel Theis, Romeo Langford, Vincent Poirier, Javonte Green, and 2 1st round picks (MEM/MIL). With Capela officially on the block, he’d be a perfect fit for Boston. And the best part is they probably don’t have to give up any of their top 5 players. Picking up Burks too also gives Boston more scoring off the bench. This would be a gigantic win for the Celtics.
As for the other teams, the Rockets get a good two way player in Covington and a center that fits their system more in Theis. The Wolves get a 2nd star to pair next to Karl-Anthony Towns. The Warriors continue their rebuild on the fly and get 3 picks to help build their core around Curry, Thompson, and Green.
Celtics: Myles Turner, Jeremy Lamb, & Doug McDermott
Pacers: Gordon Hayward, Romeo Langford, Robert Williams III, & 2020 MEM 1st
It doesn’t look like Myles Turner and Domantas Sabonis are going to be to last together in Indiana. The Celtics once again could really use a center like Turner whose an incredible shot blocker. By trading Hayward, Brown and Tatum should get more space to work on the wings and the team would be a lot more balanced. Lamb and McDermott are also great role players to give the Celtics a lot more depth.
Celtics: Derrick Rose & Christian Wood
Pistons: Daniel Theis, Carsen Edwards, & 2020 BOS 1st
Derrick Rose has rejuvenated his career as a 6th man over the past few years. Now that the Pistons are out of contention, Rose appears to be on the block. Rose would add a huge scoring presence of the bench for the Celitcs which is something they really need. Throw in Christian Wood who would add a lot more athleticism to the center position for Boston.
Celtics: Davis Bertans
Wizards: Semi Ojeleye, Vincent Poirier, & 2020 BOS 1st
Bertans has become a revelation this season and is a prime trade target for contending teams. He’s arguably the best 3 point shooter in basketball and can score in multiple ways. He would be a great pick up for Boston but he is a free agent at the end of the season.
Celtics: Nemanja Bjelica
Kings: Semi Ojeleye, Vincent Poirier, & 2020 BOS 1st
Nemanja Bjelica is a veteran big on a rebuilding team, making him a prime target for contending teams. Bjelica is a versatile big man who can play the 4 or 5 and is a fantastic 3 point shooter. He’s also under contract past this season.
Celtics: Alec Burks
Warriors: Carsen Edwards & 2020 BOS 2nd
A simplification of the 1st trade here, the Celtics pick up a bench scorer in Alec Burks. He’s only making a minimum deal so it wouldn’t be that hard to make salaries match. Throw in a 2nd rounder and the Warriors should take it.
