5 Trades That Should Happen Before The NBA Trade Deadline
With the trade deadline coming up, the rumors are beginning to fly. After hearing such rumors, here are some trades that I have come up with. All of these trades are legal as I put them through the trade machine. High tech stuff here at Couch Guy Sports. Ok, let’s get into it.
Boston: Nerlens Noel
Dallas: Guerschon Yabusele, Abdel Nader
Nerlens Noel has fallen out of good graces again with the team he is on. He should be a starter on a rebuilding team but has demoted to a benchwarmer. Going to his hometown Boston Celtics could be the perfect fit for Noel. He would add interior defense and rebounding to a team that needs. Plus if it doesn’t work out, the Celtics can just let him walk in the offseason.
New Orleans: Evan Fournier
Orlando: E’Twaun Moore, NOP’s 2018 1st Round Pick, Alexis Ajinca, Cheick Diallo
The Magic are in tanking mode and are in the hunt for the number one pick. To do that, trading Evan Fournier would help their cause greatly. Fournier would be a great fit in New Orleans as he’s one of the best shooters in basketball. Adding him to the team would create a ton of space for Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins to do work down in the post.

Cleveland: Marc Gasol
Memphis: BKN’s 2018 1st Round Pick, Tristan Thompson, Channing Frye
There is a lot of drama going on in Cleveland right now and it’s clear to me right now that the Cavs cannot get to the Finals as currently constructed. Marc Gasol is the most sought after player on the market and the Cavs could use him. Adding him would give the Cavs a lot of beef down low and of course ad another huge talent around LeBron. With Memphis, you get a top 10 pick, and cap relief with Frye’s expiring contract.
Miami: Tyreke Evans, Brandon Wright
Memphis: Bam Adebayo, Wayne Ellington
As the Memphis rebuild should be in full effect, Tyreke Evans will be on the block as well. He’s only on a 1 year 4 million dollar deal so he’ll be easy to move. Miami could use another playmaker with Dion Waiters out for the year. Evans, Goran Dragic, and Hassan Whiteside could be a deadly combo for Miami in the postseason. As for the Grizzlies, they get the 13th pick in the draft last year in Bam Adebayo and start the rebuild.

Portland: Julius Randle, Jordan Clarkson
Chicago: Maurice Harkless
LA Lakers: POR’s 2018 1st Round Pick, Ed Davis, Quincy Pondexter
In my final trade, it’s a 3 team deal. The Lakers are out of the playoff hunt and their goal for the rest of the year should be to clear cap space. Both Julius Randle and Jordan Clarkson are solid prospects but they don’t seem to be worth the money the Lakers will have to pay them or are paying them right now. Portland would be a great spot for the two of them as Randle would start and Clarkson would be a great backup guard. As for the Lakers, they get a 1st rounder and a couple of expiring contracts. Then we have the Bulls. They’re here to absorb Harkless’ contract as they could take a chance on a young wing. Everyone wins in this one.
