The 2022 NFL Draft is upon us. That means it is time to release the first half of my NFL Team needs for the NFL Draft.

So, let’s go through the first 15 picks of the NFL Draft!

1. Jacksonville Jaguars

Needs- OT, Edge, WR, TE

Key Free Agents- LT, Cam Robinson, and G, Andrew Norwell

Synopsis-  The biggest need here would be the offensive line, where they can look to protect Trevor Lawrence. Doug Pederson comes from the Andy Reid tree, a tree that overvalues OL, so do not be surprised if they trade down, or take an OL with the first pick.

2. Detroit Lions

Needs- Edge, S, QB, WR

Key Free Agents- N/A

Synopsis- Detroit will pick twice in the first round this year, thanks to the trade of Matthew Stafford. Biggest need for them is an edge, given the Trey Flowers experiment has blown up, so lucky for Detroit, the two top players in this year’s draft, are edge rushers.

3. Houston Texans

Needs- EVERYTHING

Key Free Agents- QB, Tyrod Taylor – RB, David Johnson – DT, Maliek Collins

Synopsis- Lovie Smith will take the reigns as the new head coach in Houston. With a lot of work to do, good news for them though, they will look to give Davis Mills a shot this year after a successful second half.

Houston’s best strategy here is to take the best available player.

4. New York Jets

Needs- OT, Edge, S, CB

Key Free Agents- S, Marcus Maye, and WR, Jameson Crowder.

Synopsis- For the time being the Jets have seemed to have solidified their QB, so the next step is going the way of the Jaguars and building around that QB, and that starts with the OL.

5. New York Giants

Needs- OT, Edge

Key Free Agents- S, Jabrill Peppers – G, Billy Price – TE, Evan Engram – OT, Will Hernandez

Synopsis- Build the O-Line, or take the best player available are the best options here for the Giants. Daboll will look to build around Jones and his strength, and with the amount of O-Line they are projected to lose, I would not be surprised if they take on with one of their two top 10’s

6. Carolina Panthers

Needs- OT, QB

Key Free Agents- CB, Stephon Gilmore – LB, Hasson Reddick – QB, Cam Newton – C, Matt Paradis

Synopsis- It is not the greatest class for QB’s this year, but, if the Panthers see something they like, nothing should stop them from getting them.

This is one of the more interesting picks because it is a legit toss-up where they could go.

7. New York Giants (from Chicago Bears)

Needs- OT, Edge

Key Free Agents- S, Jabrill Peppers – G, Billy Price – TE, Evan Engram – OT, Will Hernandez

Synopsis- Build the O-Line, or take the best player available are the best options here for the Giants. Daboll will look to build around Jones and his strength, and with the amount of O-Line they are projected to lose, I would not be surprised if they take on with one of their two top 10’s

8. Atlanta Falcons

Needs- OT, EDGE, S, WR, RB

Key Free Agents- RB/WR, Cordarelle Patterson – DE, Dante Fowler Jr. – CB, Isaiah Oliver

Synopsis- Another team that could go QB, but it is tough to justify at 8^th overall with this class. Strong defensive class, so could totally see them go in that direction, or a direction to shore up the O-Line.

9. Denver Broncos

Needs- QB, Best Available Player

Key Free Agents- CB, Kyle Fuller – RB, Melvin Gordon – QB, Teddy Bridgewater – LB, Josey Jewell

Synopsis- This is simple, after not taking one last year and paying the price, the Denver Broncos need to take a QB in this year’s draft. Even if the class is not that good, you cannot go into the season with just Drew Lock… (UNLESS… a certain veteran QB wants to be traded)

10. New York Jets (from Seattle Seahawks)

Needs- OT, Edge, S, CB

Key Free Agents- S, Marcus Maye, and WR, Jameson Crowder.

Synopsis- For the time being the Jets have seemed to have solidified their QB, so the next step is going the way of the Jaguars and building around that QB, and that starts with the OL.

11. Washington Commanders

Needs- QB, WR, CB

Key Free Agents- G- Brandon Scherff

Synopsis- Yup, yet another team who needs a QB in a very subpar class, and because of that, you will see 3 or 4 go in the first round. One of those could be heading to the Nations Capital because that is the biggest need for the Commanders (God, I hate saying that name)

12. Minnesota Vikings

Needs- S, IDL, CB, QB

Key Free Agents- LB, Anthony Barr – DT, Sheldon Richardson – CB, Patrick Peterson

Synopsis- What a dream it would be to see Kyle Hamilton fall to the Vikings and have him play on the other side of Harrison Smith. Sadly, that most likely won’t happen, this is an interesting spot, because the best player available is on the board here, or, do not be surprised if you see a trade down.

13. Cleveland Browns

Needs- WR, IDL, LB, QB

Key Free Agents- DE, Jadeveon Clowney – DT, Malik Jackson – LB, Anthony Walker – T, Chris Hubbard.

Synopsis- A wide receiver is a big need here for the Browns, and although there are other areas to address as well, I think WR is the position that needs to be picked here.

14. Baltimore Ravens

Needs- IDL, EDGE, CB, IOL

Key Free Agents- DE, Calais Campbell – DT, Brandon Williams – FB, Pat Ricard – WR, Sammy Watkins – CB, Jimmy Smith

Synopsis- Wowza, Baltimore will be losing a lot in the offseason, if they cannot keep them. Defense is the way to go here, shore up that front 7 in some way.

15. Philadelphia Eagles

Needs- EDGE, CB, IOL

Key Free Agents- DE, Derek Barnett – FS, Anthony Harris – S, Rodney McLeod

Synopsis- Philly needs defense, it is as simple as that, they were burned last season, so expect them, to take a front seven position or a secondary position in their back-to-back picks.

Needs- EDGE, CB, IOL

Key Free Agents- DE, Derek Barnett – FS, Anthony Harris – S, Rodney McLeod

Synopsis- Philly needs defense, it is as simple as that, they were burned last season, so expect them, to take a front seven position or a secondary position in their back-to-back picks.
