2021 Masters Picks
It is that time of the year folks. The Masters is back, and this year we don’t have to wait till October for it. Last Year, I called three out of the top five and predicted the winner as well. So I am looking to build off of that success and hopefully I will do the same or even better this year. With that being said here are my top five bets for the Masters tournament, and my winner of the tournament as well.
Top Five
Jordan Spieth (+275)
Jordan Spieth is currently ranked number 67th in the PGA Tour World Ranking. He is also coming off of a win at the Valero Texas Open which took place this past weekend. I see him building off of that success and making a nice run into the top five of the Masters. Jordan Spieth has five top ten finishes so far in 2021, and the way he has been playing as of late has been looking like the old Jordan Spieth. He also has four top three finishes in his 7 appearances at Augusta National. Spieth will finish in the top five this year.
Justin Thomas (+275)
Justin Thomas is currently ranked number 3 in the PGA Tour World Ranking. Thomas won the Players Championship back in March, and I think he will carry that momentum to Augusta. Last year at the Masters, we saw Justin Thomas finish in fourth place. It was his best finish at the Masters, and I think we will see a better performance this time around as well. Watch out for Justin Thomas as he will look to win his first ever green jacket this weekend.
Rory McIlroy (+350)
Rory McIlroy is currently ranked fourth in the PGA World Tour Ranking. He hasn’t finished top five in a tournament since the Masters in 2020. With the way that Rory has played as of late, people will ask can he play well at Augusta. Historically, Rory has struggled at Augusta National. He has finished in the top ten in half of his appearances at Augusta. Rory has never won a green jacket. This Masters might be a chance for him to finally achieve that goal. I do think he will finish in the top five of the tournament, but I don’t think he will win his first green jacket this year.
Dustin Johnson (+200)
Dustin Johnson is currently the number one ranked golfer in the PGA Tour World Ranking. He is also the reigning Masters winner. Johnson has also finished in the top ten in the last five tournaments at Augusta. It is hard to repeat at the Masters though. Only three golfers as ever repeated as the Masters winner (Jack Nicklaus, Nick Faldo, and Tiger Woods). It hasn’t been done since Tiger did it in 2001 and 2002. Johnson can definitely do it, but he is going to need to play a flawless for a four day stretch.
Lee Westwood (+800)
Lee Westwood is currently ranked 42nd in the PGA Tour World Ranking. Westwood finished in second place in two consecutive tournaments this season. He did at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and The Players Championship. Westwood’s best finish at Augusta is second and he finished in second twice (2010, 2016). I think Westwood is my dark horse to win the Masters, but I do see him finishing at least in the top five for the fourth time in his career.
Winner
Justin Thomas (+1200)
My winner of the 2021 Masters is none other than Justin Thomas. Thomas played well in the 2020 Masters, and the way that he has been playing makes me believe that he will win his first ever green jacket. At the end of the final day of the Masters, I believe that we will see Dustin Johnson putting the green jacket on Justin Thomas.
