2017-2018 NBA Preview: Player Rankings 100-91
As we enter the final week of August, we are getting closer and closer to basketball coming back. After this crazy offseason, that is something that has me and millions of others very excited about. So to kick off my NBA Preview, I will be ranking the top 100 players in the league. This is my personal ranking of the players and how I expect them to perform this season. Everyone’s opinion is different so if you think a player is too low of too high; then jump into the comments. Let the countdown begin.
100 Lou Williams—LA Clippers—SG: Williams is headed back to Los Angeles, but this time with the Clippers. He’ll be the starting shooting guard for a team trying to rebuild on the fly.
99 Gary Harris—Denver—SG: Harris has quietly become one of the best shooters in all of the NBA. After shooting 50% from the floor and 42% from behind the arch, he hopes to build off a career year.
98 Marcus Morris—Boston—PF: The worse of the Morris twins, Marcus will be on landing on his 4th team with Boston. He has the perfect modern body to be a stretch 4, but he needs to be more consistent.
97 Wesley Mathews—Dallas—SG: Leaving Portland might have been the worst thing Matthews could have done for his career. His last two years in Dallas have been bad and it doesn’t look like he’s going to get better.
96 Zach Randolph—Sacramento—PF: After spending 8 years in Memphis, Randolph will play his 1st year with the Kings. He’ll bring a nice veteran presence to a young Kings team.
95 Derrick Rose—Cleveland—PG: Rose has never been the same since he blew out his leg with the Bulls. After spending a year with the Knicks, Rose hopes to revive his career in a smaller supporting role. He needs to prove that he can play good consistent defense.
94 Thaddeus Young—Indiana—PF: One of the few veterans on the rebuilding Pacers, expect Young to be on the move at some point this season. He’s a consistent scorer and a solid defender.
93 Pau Gasol—San Antonio—C/PF: Entering his 17th year in the league, the road is winding down for Pau Gasol. He’s still an extremely talented big man but has slowed down drastically.
92 Brandon Knight—Phoenix—PG: It wasn’t that long ago when Brandon Knight was considered one of the best young point guards in basketball. Ever since he got to Phoenix, he hasn’t found his grove. Now he’s likely out for the year after tearing his ACL. One of the saddest falls from grace in the NBA.
91 Jusuf Nurkic—Portland—C: While Nurkic struggled with Denver, he took off when he was traded to the Blazers last year. In 20 games with the team last year, he averaged 15 points and grabbed 10 boards a game. A full season in Portland could become a breakout year for the 23 year old center.
