The Boston Celtics have started the season 1-1 as they just won their home opener against the defending champs, Toronto Raptors. It was fun to watch as they were down the whole game. They fought their way back and closed the game out in significant fashion. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown finished with 25 points each, with Kemba Walker adding another 22 points.

Opening night, people saw the new-look Celtics and witnessed the struggles they had offensively. Kemba Walker was 4/18 and couldn’t seem to find a rhythm in the first game against the Philadelphia 76ers in Philadelphia. Last night, in the home opener against the defending NBA Champs, Toronto Raptors, he started poorly as well as he couldn’t buy a bucket in the first quarter, finishing 1/7 after one.
However, watching the last nine minutes of that game was indeed something special with this Celtics team. Hayward, Brown, Tatum, and Walker all contributed to the win against the Raptors.
Walker will need some time to settle into his new role this season, but I see him averaging in the 20s as the season proceeds. Brown just signed a four year, 115-million-dollar contract extension, and people expect him to take his game to the next level. I look at Hayward, and I see a guy who is more confident than ever since his leg injury. Tatum is someone that needs to take the next step, and he knows that. As he continues to make strides this season, what team in the NBA will want to face the Celtics?

The Celtics can be a force against any team in the league. I have tremendous optimism and excitement, thinking about how they will progress throughout this season. Although the Philadelphia 76ers and Milwaukee Bucks are the favorites to represent the East in the NBA Finals, do not fall sleep or count out the Boston Celtics. They are only going to improve, in my opinion.
