DiNucci Not Guaranteed The Start
Quarterback Ben DiNucci started against the Philadelphia Eagles. He threw for 150 yards and 0 touchdowns. The play calling was different than it was with Dak Prescott. It left many fans scratching their heads. Why wait to get this creative?
DiNucci didn’t give the Cowboys to write home about. He only averaged 4.5 yards per completion. For reference, Dak Prescott has a career average of 7.7. It’s been days and I’m still seeing the sidearm throw in my sleep. After two appearances, he’s not the one they’re sold on.
Cooper Rush In?
Today is the trade deadline and the Jones’ reported that they won’t be buyers this time around. With two quarterbacks out and not being sold on your third string, you have to look at your practice squad. Cooper Rush has now slid under the microscope as the Cowboys face the undefeated Pittsburgh Steelers.
Dallas would have to activate him from the practice squad if they were going to go after him. There is no certainty he gets the start but it’s being “seriously contemplated,” per Ian Rapoport. Rush has been with the Cowboys since 2017 and has made 5 appearances. He was averaging 6.5 yards per completion back in 2018. S
The #Cowboys are seriously contemplating turning to QB Cooper Rush as their starter this week… which would require he get activated from the practice squad, source said. With Andy Dalton down with COVID, it may not be Ben DiNucci again.

Trade Deadline Blues
The Cowboys season was set to be a ride when their defense had no improvement and the offensive line was depleted with injuries. Ownership has yet to give Dak any players to protect him which would of course lead to issues. With Dak out for the season and no contract for the future, Jerry Jones should be on the phone today.
I am no expert by any means but being heavily injured on both sides of the ball is not what you want. The fake optimism and certainty from coaching and the front office seem foolish. It makes the most sense to get creative with what you have and fiddle around with what you could work with for the remainder of the season. Now is the time to rebuild and put those young guys in. There is nothing to lose, besides a higher draft pick.
