Le’Veon Bell Still Has Not Reported to the Pittsburgh Steelers

After almost eight weeks of the NFL season played, it doesn’t look like Le’Veon Bell is going to return this season with the Pittsburgh Steelers.  I could be wrong, and he could make the shocking appearance out of nowhere. However, I don’t feel he wants to risk injury and ruin his chances of getting the big contract. This has been a strange level of events that has happened with the Steelers and Le’Veon Bell.  If it wasn’t for the lack of communication between the two parties, then maybe, just maybe, this could have been a better situation for the team. However, with the way things are looking, Le’Veon Bell will be wearing a different color jersey next year.

It all started at the beginning of the year 2017. Le’Veon was labelled with the franchise tag by the Pittsburgh Steelers, leaving the star running back very irritated. Bell didn’t report to training camp. Bell eventually signed the franchise tag on September 4th 2017, just days before the start of the NFL season. Not an ideal thing for a running back to do considering all reps are important before the first game. Bell would struggle in the Steelers opener but was making a statement, pay me the money. The drama might have settled down during the season until Bell threatened retirement, if the Steelers were planning to again put the franchise tag on him.  This scenario happened days before the divisional round game against Jacksonville which resulted in a loss, thus continuing the feud between the Steelers and Le’Veon Bell.

The Steelers, again, franchised tagged the star running back for the 2018 NFL season.  Over the summer of 2018, the Los Angeles Rams extended their star running back Todd Gurley’s contract and I know this had to most likely upset Bell.  He would holdout a second straight training camp and this time, into the current regular season. Yes, in fact, it did happen and now I read that it’s been reported he would be back after the team’s bye week.  However, Le’Veon hasn’t returned, leaving James Connor still the starting running back. This has been a disappointed result for the Steelers, the league, and most importantly the NFL fans. He’s a great player to watch and brings excitement to the game. Like many others, we will continue watching and as we get closer to playoff time, the Steelers will, again, make the run for the Super bowl with or without Le’veon Bell.
