Unless you’ve been living under a rock, I will assume you’ve been playing Animal Crossing or have at least heard of it. I have a long history with the game and it means a lot to me.
I’ve been playing Animal Crossing since middle school. I made my dad get me Wild World because all the girls at summer camp were playing it. My dad being the saint that he was made sure I got a new copy and not a used one. I would play this game for hours on end. It was my escape from the school drama and a way for me to take my mind off of the awkward stages of life.
Most people probably think playing as a character in a town with little animals is weird or childish. I would agree with you, to an extent. There’s a lot you can do. Like dig for fossils, catch bugs, and even fish! It’s a mindless game, a perfect way to take your mind off things.
My pink DS Lite broke on our way back from Cleveland which meant I was stuck in the car for ten hours with nothing to do. I remember brushing it off but really being so upset. Sadly, that was the last time I ever recall playing Animal Crossing Wild World.
Fast forward six years. I’m in Game Stop with my brother and I see a 3DS on sale for $100 and Animal Crossing New Leaf. I snagged both and the obsession began all over again.
In March, Nintendo released the highly anticipated Animal Crossing New Horizons. Instead of building your life on town, you start on a deserted island. There’s so many cool features like flying to mystery islands and meeting villagers who you can convince to move to your island!
I can’t help but obsess over catching fish and enjoying shooting stars. There’s something oddly relaxing about it. Since I live so far away from my friends, they visit my island and we can hang out that way! It’s pretty cool.
If you’ve been debating on buying the game, here’s the sign you’ve been looking for.
