Last night, Packers wide receiver Davante Adams was knocked unconscious after this hit from Bears linebacker Danny Trevathan:

Why he wasn’t thrown out of the game I’ll never understand, but this has to be one of the scummiest hits I’ve seen in pro football. The NFL needs an in-game targeting penalty similar to college football’s that would toss the player out of the game. Headhunting like that is inexcusable in my opinion. He was clearly pissed off that the Bears were getting smoked, and had to take it out on somebody.
The NFL created a new rule this offseason in regards to hits on defenseless players which would result in an automatic suspension after the first offense, and they need to enforce it on Trevathan. That hit was just awful. I hope that Adams can make a full recovery soon.
