Patriots Acquire Jason McCourty from Browns; Who Should They Target Next?

The Patriots and the Browns made their second trade of the off-season today. This one involves current Patriot Devin McCourty’s brother, defensive back Jason McCourty. He will be joining the Patriots, as the two sides will also swap 6th and 7th round picks in the draft this year. After starting his career with the Tennesee Titans, McCourty had a brief stint with the Cleveland Browns before landing here. He isn’t going to be the Malcolm Butler replacement by any means, but McCourty will be a very solid #2 next to Stephon Gilmore. Last season with the Browns, he put together 65 combined tackles, 3 interceptions, and 1 touchdown while appearing in 14 games. It’s great to have him on the roster, but I still think the Patriots are another piece away from making their defensive back group better than last years. We all saw that position get torched on numerous occasions. Josh McCown managed to put up big numbers against us for crying out loud. It was also our Achilles heel in the Super Bowl. So who should they target next?

Based on how the Patriots have approached free agency this year, I doubt this would happen, but man would I love to see the Honey Badger in New England. If I had to guess, I say he ends up in Pittsburgh, but the fit here would make too much sense.
