Boston Herald Writer Gets Catfished with Fake Tom Brady Story

My oh my, how funny is this story? Ron Borges of the Boston Herald got catfished by a Kirk and Callahan caller who pretended to be Tom Brady & Jimmy Garoppolo’s agent Don Yee. The caller reportedly picked up Borges’ number on twitter and made claims that after seeing what Jimmy G got from the 49ers, Brady would sit out OTA’s if he didn’t recieve a similar deal. And of course Borges jumped all over that, but he didn’t fact check, which is where he made his big mistake.

There must be some really special people in this world because you’d think it has to take some serious skill to pull this off, right? Well, read the texts for yourself:

Borges didn’t even question the guy, who we have learned was obviously not Don Yee. How stupid do you have to be to not check any of your other sources for news like this? If Adam Schefter’s phone number just so happened to fall into my lap, I’m 1 billion % positive that he would fact-check whatever I tell him. Reporters have multiple sources for a reason, TO ACQUIRE INFORMATION! Do your god damn job and maybe you won’t wind up being the laughing stock of the entire northeast.

I really wish that I had the chance to read this bombshell, but the Herald has suspended the story for further evaluation. But either which way, thanks for the laugh, Borges! Always fun to clown on dummies.
