The Red Sox are on the Verge of Losing Their Best Player

Not only have the Red Sox made zero moves to improve their team for the 2018 season, but they have somehow managed to hurt their team for the future. I am really not sure why this story has not gotten more attention from the Red Sox fan base but it really needs to.

The Red Sox took Mookie Betts to arbitration over 3 million dollars…what are we the damn Oakland A’s? 3 million dollars? You have to be kidding me! To make matters worse, the Red Sox came in at 7.5 mill and Mookie wanted 10.5 Mill a year. Betts is worth more than 10.5 mill a year regardless, so why not just pay him the money he wanted and keep him in good graces with you? No surprise to anyone Mookie won the arbitration hearing and is getting paid the money he originally asked for, 10.5 million, this year.

This is not the first time that Betts and the Red Sox have had issues regarding his contract. Earlier last year Mookie Betts turned down a multi-year extension from the Red Sox. Red flag. On top of that prior to rejecting the long-term extension Betts has also turned down “multiple” one year deals the Red Sox have offered him through this past year.

What the hell is going on! You miss out on Stanton, you can’t sign JD Martinez, your biggest off-season move is bringing back Mitchy Twobags (for the record I like that move), and now you are about to let your best player and one of, if not, the best right fielder in all of baseball walk away within the next 3 years.  Going on the record now saying that I am scared for the future of the Red Sox. Red Sox nation better start preparing for life without Mookie because it will be here faster than you think.
