The Boston Bruins have been on an incredible run as of late even though in their last few games they have looked sloppy, they’ve been able to get a point. The Bruins are on a 14 game point streak and they look to continue it against the Montreal Canadiens tonight in Boston.
The Bruins and Canadiens faced off on Saturday in a good rivalry game. It was the first time the teams had met this season and the first time they had met since Claude Julien was hired as the Canadiens head coach. Saturday the Bruins were able to edge out the Canadiens in a shootout to get the extra point. The game was a back and forth affair and the Bruins looked sloppy at times but were able to keep the game close and tie it to get the contest to a wild overtime period. Chances on both ends were abundant in the game and it looks like it will be another close game tonight.
The Bruins are coming off an overtime loss to the Dallas Stars on Monday afternoon and they looked bad in that game and were unable to get a smooth flow going in the game. But they were able to grind out a point and keep the streak alive. The Canadiens played Monday as well and were beaten by the Islanders in overtime. Although they lost the Canadiens played a hell of a game registering an insane 56 shots on goal and they’ll be looking to carry that kind of game into Boston.
It looks as if Tuukka Rask will be in net for the Bruins after he was rested on Monday. The Canadiens might choose to start Antti Niemi as Price has started the last two games. Niemi has been bad this year and the goalie is not what he once was. His numbers of a 4.80 GAA and a sub .900 SV% are very bad. If he’s in net the Bruins should be able to pick up the two points, considering Niemi is winless this season.
At the end of the day you never know, anything can happen in a big rivalry game especially between these two. Game time is set for 7:30 and the game will air on NBCSN.
