Which team is going to grab that last wild card spot in the American League? Well it is coming down to two teams the Minnesota Twins and the Los Angeles Angels. If it was up to me, I would much rather see the Angles in a one game take all game. They just have a more exciting lineup that could provide an exciting game against the Yankees. What hurts both teams is that they play the best team in their conferences before the season ends. The Twins have a four game series against the Indians and the Angles play the Astros in a three games series. After that, both the Angles and the Twins face off against easy teams. The Twins play the Tigers eight times over their next 12 games which is a little ridiculous. The Angles also face off against Seattle and the White Sox, which are two fairly easy opponents.
My prediction is that the Angles will grab the last Wild Card spot. However, my prediction is based off of their pitching. The Angles have a better quality rotation and a lower team ERA than the Twins do this season. When it all comes down to it, pitching is what it is all about in the one game playoff. The Angles also just put up a nice little series fight against the Indians who are the best team in the MLB. They did not win any of these games, but they kept them close. This Angels lineup can get hot at any moment with Upton, Trout, Pujols, and Calhoun providing power. This will not be easy for the Angles seeing that they are currently 1.5 games behind the Twins for that last spot. 1.5 games may not seem like a lot, but in baseball it is.
If my prediction comes true, then we shall be seeing the Yankees and the Angles in a winner takes all game. The winner getting the chance to play the Indians in a five game series.
