Time to Get Excited, Celtics Fans

Following the completion of the Kyrie Irving trade, the Celtics held a press conference this morning for both Irving & Gordon Hayward. Because of scheduling conflicts back in July, Hayward wasn’t able to get his own presser. It looks like things found a way of working out, and it didn’t disappoint. You can watch the entire thing here:

Kyrie was the clear star of the show this morning, fielding most of the questions. When asked about his relationship with LeBron, he immediately deflected any negativity and tried to shed it into a positive light. He said that his decision to leave was him wanting to grow more not only as a basketball player but as a man as well. He also said that there isn’t any animosity between him and LeBron, stating that “the brotherhood exists… and will continue.” Kyrie is a very well spoken guy, who will be a ton of fun to watch and listen to this season.

For Hayward, he expressed how excited he was to play alongside Kyrie and in Boston, even with the team looking a bit different from when he first signed with the Celtics. He said that Isaiah Thomas was a huge part the recruitment process that brought him to Boston, and wished him and Jae Crowder nothing but the best in Cleveland.

The two seemed very excited to join the Celtics and finally get a chance to play with each other. Hayward spoke on Kyrie trying to recruit him to Cleveland when he was a free agent back in 2013, but LeBron James’ return kind of got in the way. The two also stated that they’ve always been good friends without ever really spending much time together, but are excited about the opportunity to do so now.

The photo shoot that followed the press conference was basically Celtics porn, so check it out:

It might be rocky at first, but this team will be better than last years’. It’s hard to say if they’ll make it to the Finals, but for right now, I feel really good about them. The count down to opening night begins now.
